Kutlesa is pleased to announce Dreaming with my Hands Clutched, a solo exhibition by South Korean artist Alexis Jang.

The show comprises works that meditate on the delicate balance between wanting to be in a state of dreaming or hope and yet finding oneself in the clutches of reality.

Alexis Jang explores the theme of balancing dreams and reality, which is a common one in art, literature, and philosophy. The works raise questions about the nature of desire, the role of imagination, and the challenges of living in a world that often seems at odds with our aspirations.

In the Renaissance era, the theme of dreaming versus reality was explored in works such as Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights and Sandro Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. These works depicted surreal and fantastical scenes that blurred the line between reality and the imaginary, inviting the viewer to question what was real and was not. In the 20th century, artists such as Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, and Frida Kahlo continued to explore the theme of dreaming versus reality, often using surreal or absurd imagery to challenge the viewer's assumptions and expectations.
